While this isn’t as good as the $1 iPhones, Canadian mobile carrier Telus now offers a super nice deal on refurbished iPhone 3G units.

Basically a refurbished (or what they at Telus call “refreshed”) 8GB iPhone 3G will only cost you $9 CDN (yup, that’s $9 Canadian dollars!).

The downside is that you’ll need to sign up for a three year contract with Telus, but nevertheless this is a very nice deal.

Although it’s not as fast as the iPhone 3GS or the iPhone 4G, the iPhone 3G nevertheless packs quite a punch and is pretty much as good as most Android based phones out there.

And pricing the refurbished iPhone 3G units at $9 will certainly give Telus a leg over other Canadian mobile carriers who do not offer the iPhone 3G and don’t have such low prices for any of the other iPhones models.

After all, most of us know “that guy” who wants to buy an iPhone of any sort and talks about it non stop, but always delays it since “it’s way too expensive”. So do a public service announcement and let him know he could pick up an iPhone 3G for only $9 now.

P.S. Keep in mind that this is an exclusive online offer – you won’t be able to find this phone in retail Telus stores.
P.P.S. Also check out the new (Canadian) offers on new and refurbished iPhone 3GS – all of these materialized after the iPhone 4 was released in Canada today.

In Canada, Apple is now selling a no-contract / unlocked 8GB model of the iPhone 3GS for $549 (Canadian dollars) through its online store and in retail Apple stores.

Unlike the iPhone 4 that was launched earlier today, with new orders of thereof due to be shipped only in three weeks, Apple promises to ship the iPhone 3GS units within 24 hours (with free shipping).

Curiously enough, only the 8GB model of the iPhone 3GS is available through Apple’s online store. Where did the 16GB / 32GB iPhone 3GS units disappear?

Additionally, all major Canadian wireless carriers now offer the 8GB iPhone 3GS for $99 with a three-year contract.

But the 16GB and 32GB iPhone 3GS models also seem to be missing from Fido’s site and Rogers’ site.

Bell and Telus also don’t have new 16/32GB iPhone 3GS units on sale. Although they do offer “refreshed” (= refurbished) iPhone 3GS units at some exceptionally low prices – $49/$99 for an iPhone 3GS 16/32GB respectively (with a three year contract).

These are no doubt some very competitive prices that should eat into the lower-piced Android smartphones market share.

But, once again… where did all the new iPhone 3GS 16/32GB units disappear out of sudden?

iPhone 4 is now available in Canada!

After having been launched in some parts of Asian-Pacific and European regions today, the iPhone 4 is now available in Canada.

Available directly from Apple and most major Canadian mobile carriers, the iPhone 4 in Canada is available as both contract-based and contract-free models.

Where to buy an iPhone 4 in Canada:

Here’s the full list of Canadian iPhone 4 distributors and prices.

iPhone 4 Canada retail

In Apple stores, no contract and unlocked iPhone 4 costs $659 for the 16GB model, while the 32GB iPhone 4 model will set you back $779. Keep in mind that you can not buy more than two iPhones.

Rogers, Fido and Telus all sell iPhone 4s at the same price. They offer 16/32GB no-contract iPhone 4s at $649/$749 (contract free – but still locked to the carrier you purchase them from), while with a 3 year contract the price is $159/$269 for respective models.

Bell offers 16/32GB iPhone 4s for $159.95/$269.95 respectively with a three year contract. It does not sell no-contract devices.

Very low iPhone 4 stock in Canada – already sold out in some locations

It’s been reported that long lines formed several hours before the device’s launch next to flagship Apple, Rogers, Fido, Telus and Bell stores in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, with some folks even staying in line overnight.

There’s also Twitter reports of long waiting times in stores due to sporadic handset activation problems (this actually became a tradition of sorts for iPhone launches), while sources report that the overall iPhone 4 stocks in Canada are low (in fact, it’s apparently already sold out in some places).

iPhone 4 Canada online

So overall, if you want to get an iPhone 4 in Canada, you’d better hurry up and try to get it in a retail store… Keep in mind that Apple’s Canadian online store shows 3 weeks shipping time for new orders.
